Race: Forsaken

Physical Description: Kale stands at 5'9" with a lean body. He's somewhat muscular from the basic work involved with being a sand pirate, but doesn't go out of his way to stay in shape. He has long messy auburn hair that he usually wears pushed back with a headband

He has a reptillian look to him. His green eyes, while otherwise human-looking, have slitted pupils and he has a forked tongue like a lizard. He has smooth sand-colored scales on his back, his legs, the tops of his arms and the backs of his hands, and along the outer-most edges of his face. The other half of his body (his face, palms, belly, and genitals) are all normal skin.

Kale wears an eyepatch over his left eye. Beneath the eyepatch, one can see the scar and slash of where he was once clawed across the eye, putting it out. His left "out" eye is permanently shut.

He prefers loose comfortable clothing but likes to wear a long coat even in summer because he thinks it makes him look cool.

Special Abilities: Beast-whisperer. Kale has the innate ability to communicate with animals and monsters. He doesn't hear them "talk" per se, but seems to understand what they're trying to tell him through their own body language and eye contact.

He also has the ability to charm these animals. More specifically, when he deliberately tries to win an animal's trust and affection, the creature is instinctively drawn to him and willing to do anything to please his master. This can be difficult because if Kale "turns on the charm" enough to make the creature willing to charge into danger, the same beast may be overly-affectionate and gush for Kale's attention during "off hours." He can keep a charmed beast docile indefinitely even when provoked by someone else (as long as that's what Kale told the beast to do).

Kale can use this ability to get even dangerous beasts to let him ride them. He can control a swarm of small simple beasts (like rats) or a single large beast (like a gorrick) or a few beasts of intermediate size. He can control more than one large beast, but the strain becomes great over time and they won't remain docile indefinitely unless the beasts are restrained with shackles or some other means when Kale needs to rest.

This skill isn't perfect because beasts aren't perfect. As simple creatures, they cannot understand complicated instructions. Every creature seems capable of simple commands such as "sit" "stay" "lie down" "growl" "attack" but some tricks that are more advanced physically (jumping through a hoop) or in complexity ("follow me, but stay 50 feet behind me") may be too advanced for mentally or physically clumsy beasts.

Naturally, he is an expert rider of typical steeds like rakuda.

Personality:
Kale has a devil-may-care attitude befitting a pirate. He enjoys his profitable life as a pirate and he feels happy and successful working for the Black Suns.

He has extreme racial pride for Forsaken. He thinks no other race is more powerful and destined for greatness. Humans are the frightened little worker ants that do all the work so that Forsaken and pirates may sweep in and take from them. While he bears humans no ill-will, he finds it comical how seriously they take themselves and isn't above bullying one.

Kale loves his monsters as much as they love him. He is fiercely protective of the beasts under his care and usually rather affectionate with them. He will not send a monster into a combat unless necessary, and even then, he will not send them on a suicide run unless all other options are unavailable. He sees his "pets" as fellow pirates and soldiers whose lives should be taken seriously and not wasted.

Kale is a letch, an alcoholic, and a recreational drug-user. He is bisexual, but prefers his bed partners to be submissive. He finds Forsaken more sexually attractive than humans, finding a dark erotic beauty in their mutations and deformities.

Occupation:
Black Sun pirate (underling)

Faults and Weaknesses:
Poor depth perception (only one eye)
Wanted by the law for piracy (a few wanted posters have cropped up)
No sense of charity. Period. Unless there's an assured emotional or financial reward in store, Kale has no interest in lifting a finger to help a stranger.

Poor fighter -- While Kale can swing a sword and fire a pistol, he is not very good at either. He's all talk/bravado with very little combat skill. He usually relies on his beasts for protection

Poor etiquette - While Kale imagines he can talk "all fancy-like," there is no chance he could rub elbows with nobles

Illiterate-- while Kale knows basic addition and subraction for the sake of managing his finances, he is completely illiterate and otherwise unschooled in academia

History:
Born and raised in Warstein, Kale took to a life of crime at a very early age. He found there was money to be had in illegal means using monsters at his disposal, and decided to take it. He prefers safety in numbers and prefers to fight in a pirate gang rather than as a solo act.

He currently cruises the land with the Black Suns in search of pleasure, wealth, and fortune.
